Rimmel have plesantly surprised me when it comes to drug store foundations. I’ve always stuck to my classics MAC & Chanel but not for any particular reason than not having tried drug store foundations before until I discovered these gems from Rimmel.
I got the chance to try 2 foundations from the brand, Lasting Finish & Wake Me Up. Both of which I really enjoy using, one which is my standout favourite!
Lasting Finish is a 25 hour (yep not 24) foundation. A lightweight and long-lasting formula that promises to last all day. What really impresses me (about both foundations in fact) are the skin benefits. Lasting Finish contains moisturising gel, antioxidants (vitamin E – our skin’s best friend) ad to top it off, SPF 20 – wahey! When it comes to my own experience, foundations do really have to work hard in the summer heat we have in Dubai. I much prefer light weight foundations and this felt great on my skin without feeling like it was melting off half way through out the day. I must say, it did start to wear off after a long day at work but I still reach for this because of the feeling, light/medium coverage, hydrating benefits and of course the added SPF. An all around great foundation. Surprisingly I’m in the shade 400 Natural Beige, go check them out in store, this was lighter than I thought I’d need but ended up being just right on the face.
Rimmel’s Wake Me Up Foundation is quite similar in feel, but lasts slightly longer on me, I LOVE the look and the skin benefiting properties.
Wake Me Up is aimed to be an “Anti Fatigue Foundation”, as the name suggests, one to help you feel and look more awake. This is all down to the illuminating ingredients. The formula contains a burst of vitamins and peptides of which Vitamin C stands out the most. Again like Lasting Finish, it also contains moisturising complexes and an SPF, this time factor 15.
I take a couple of pumps of this on the back of my hand and thats enough to cover the face. It’s also a light to medium coverage but can be more buildable. It’s a dream to apply and feels light on the skin. It is an awakening formula but you can’t feel any tingling or uncomfort on the skin.
Of both foundations, both have great lightweight formulas and a blend of awesome skincare. Just because of the awakening, illuminating properties, I find myself reaching for Wake Me Up slightly more myself. If you’re someone that like me hadn’t tried drugstore foundations before, I’d recommend you go and at least swatch these in store, they’re awesome.
Which ones your favourite?
