As soon as I found out I was pregnant I was dying to fly back home and celebrate with friends and family, what better way to celebrate than hosting a Baby Shower! Both my husband and I have huge families so all in all we had about 80 people coming to celebrate with us at home! It was a big task to organise but was great fun planning and everyone had a super time.
Being October, and of course not in Dubai, the weather in London was it’s usual unpredictable self. My parents helped out so much by hiring a marquee events company to build a huge marquee with chairs and tables in the back garden, as well as hiring a catering company. The event was starting at 1 so we planned easy food like freshly cooked pizzas, chips and other hordeourves. The weather on the day was actually absolutely beautiful and sunny which always makes a difference.
My main job was to sort out all the decorations. As I was planning everything from Dubai, I was desperately looking for websites in the UK that would supply us with all the decor we wanted for the day. This was actually a lot harder than I had expected, I could find a few things from various websites, even some big names like Amazon, Easy, NotOnTheHighStreet etc but it’s not easy ordering a million things from so many websites and I didn’t want the process to become so complicated. I then found a website called The Baby Shower Host, here’s their website. I loved the easiness of the website, the range of products they had and the delivery speed. I ended up buying a whole heap of stuff and it all turned out perfect! If you’ve read my gender reveal post (here) you’ll know we just found out we’re expecting a baby boy 🙂 so I was keen to have all the decorations in some sort of blue / boy theme. In the end I went for really cute Micky Mouse pieces that the website stocked including table clothes, cups, plates, cutlery, balloons as well as other things for the day such as bunting, cake stands, cake toppers etc.
We all had SUCH a brilliant day and I could not have been more pleased! The decor looked fab, food was so tasty, we played a few games during the afternoon including everyone getting in to groups and nominating a ‘baby’ who everyone else then had to wrap a nappy around! Everyone took part and it was a great laugh. All our friends and family were so pleased for us and everyone had such a great time, I’ll never forget the day. We were so overwhelmed by all the gifts it was crazy! Luckily we managed to ship back every single thing back to Dubai for our little boy.
I hope I’ve given you some inspiration for a baby shower or you’ve enjoyed reading about ours 🙂 I love looking back at these photos, it was such a special day.
