boscia Makeup-Breakup Cool Cleansing Oil Review

I’d been hearing so many fabulous things about the boscia makeup-breakup cool cleansing oil for what seems like so long, that was until a few months ago when I finally made a huge US Sephora order with my shopping list on hand! (more on that here).

Boscia’s cool cleansing oil retails in the US for $30 (that’s approx £21 / AED 110), unfortunately it’s not available in the UK or the UAE. Price wise it is on the high end for a cleansing oil, however I’d previously been repurchasing Dermalogica’s pre-cleanse for years and that retails comparatively for $43, so that’s more expensive than boscia. On the other hand and more recently last year, I went through 4 bottle’s of The Body Shop’s Silky Chamomile Cleansing Oil which I absolutely love and cannot fault, that retails for $15, so on the high street budget end. One thing to note however, both the pre-cleanse and chamomile oils are cleansing oils, where as boscia is formulated to be specifically designed to remove make up, so essentially the first step prior to going in with another cleansing oil or product as your actual cleanse.

What I like about boscia’s products is that they’re all about botanically based skincare. Products are also free from paragons and sulphates which all adds to the appeal. The packaging is a sleek, high quality plastic, it’s transparent enough to be able to see how much product is left in the bottle. The pump is AMAZING. Unlike other oils I have that can get super messy and the bottle can remain greasy and a bid of a headache to keep clean on the dresser or in the bathroom, the packaging of this oil allows for the oil to be dispersed precisely in to the palm of your hand, you’ll notice that by the long pump at the top of the bottle.

The oil itself is silky and medium consistency. It’s slightly thicker than the Chamomile Cleansing Oil and pre-cleanse but less thick than the like’s of NUDE’s Perfect Cleansing Oil (which I found super thick – review here). This oil is not runny enough to go everywhere but enough to be able to spread well across your face which is great. Once in my palm I rub my hands together and apply all over my face, including the eyes. There’s absolutely no irritation for me and the product works extremely well at removing stubborn eye make up too. After massaging the oil in to my face, I wash off all the grime with water and I find that even after a heavy day of make up, 1 round of the oil takes everything off before I go in with my cleanser for a deep cleanse. One thing I was slightly upset about is the “cooling” effect. I honestly can’t feel any cooling whatsoever, sorry ladies!

Overall I do really enjoy using this product, it works really well with just 1 use at removing all make up, even waterproof mascara! The packaging is also another reason I’d buy this over other bottles that so far I’ve not been impressed with packaging wise. My only wish is that this was more easily available to buy either in the UAE or UK and that it had more of a cooling tingling effect but maybe that’s just me/my skin! Have you tried this or any other products from boscia’s line? I’d love to know!

Love, Anisha xox
